"Freezable" ≠ "frozen". $5.35M in USDC left in 26 hours

On October 11, Bitquery reported that after the Ledger wallet drain, 5.35M USDC was sitting in five addresses and Circle could freeze it.

On October 12 we checked those five addresses on-chain. All empty. None on the USDC blacklist. The last transfer left 26 hours after the report. 1.43M of it has already been swapped into ETH — and nobody freezes ETH.

For comparison: in the same case Tether froze $10M within two hours (Bitquery data).

The difference isn't the issuer. The difference is whether anyone filed. A freeze isn't triggered by a blog post — it's triggered by a request: from the victim, an exchange, the police. No request, no freeze, no matter how many analysts write "could".

If your funds were stolen: the letter to the issuer and to the exchange where the money went goes out in the first hour. Not after someone writes about it.

On our route page every exchange in the chain comes with a ready-made letter, with the tx hash and time: https://amlconsensus.com/en
